Overview Rock Harbor Lodge & Marina is located in Isle Royale National Park, Michigan, in the northern part of Lake Superior, close to the Canadian border. The historic Lodge is the only in-Park lodging and the only full-service dining available to visitors. Lodge amenities include a retail gift/ shop, harbor-view outdoor patio with snack bar, dockside store with camping and fishing supplies, fishing and sightseeing tours, water taxi service, and a marina with fuel. The Lodge is open seasonally from May 22 to September 10. Groups are welcome; limited meeting facilities and special-event catering can be arranged. Retreats, eco-tours, meetings, family reunions and weddings are popular. New in 2011, Snug Harbor Cookout is a group outdoor dining venue that offers grilled fare and a picture-perfect lakeside dining setting. Rock Harbor Lodge accommodations include Lakeside Lodge Rooms—two story motel-style units, each offering a panoramic view of Lake Superior—and Cottages, dotted throughout the forest from Tobin Harbor and Rock Harbor Marina. Pine paneling and expanded decks highlighted the lodge renovations for one of the 15-room lodge buildings, with another of the 15-room lodges slated for renovation early in the 2012 season. No elevators are available. Lodge guests receive one FREE half-day canoe rental per visit included in room rates. All lodge rooms are right on the water and give the guest a breathtaking view of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world. Roomy cottages, accommodating up to 6, feature kitchenettes, private bathrooms with tubs and showers, linens, towels, heat, one double bed, one bunk bed, and a living area Lakeside Lodge Rooms accommodate up to 4 people, queen and double beds High-season rates apply in July and early August PET POLICY: Pets are not allowed on the island except for service pets, which must be cleared by the National Park Service in advance of visit. Rock Harbor Dining Room and Greenstone Grill, extensively renovated in 2010, provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner to lodge and Cottage guests, day-trippers and campers ready for a hot meal. The adjacent Greenstone Grill offers sandwiches, burgers, pizza, late-night snacks, cappuccino, beer, and wine on an open patio facing the marina. Rock Harbor Marina services and facilities include hook-ups, pump-out service, fuel, and motorboat rentals. Kayaks and canoes may also be rented. 450 ft. of dock space Boats up to 65' can be accommodated Electrical and fresh water hook-ups Gasoline and diesel are available Public shower and laundry facilities on site NPS Visitor Center and Interpretive Center Rock Harbor Lodge Gift Store and the Marina's newly rennovated Dockside Camp Store combined provide a wide range of items for visitors and campers including apparel, jewelry, sundries and groceries, fishing tackle and licenses. At the southwestern end of Isle Royale (Washington Harbor) is Windigo Store with similar offerings. Boating accessories, apparel, and sundries also available at the Dockside Camp Store. Rock Harbor Lodge Sightseeing Tours are offered throughout the season and vary by time and day of the week. Guests can easily and safely visit Passage Island, Hidden Lake, Raspberry Island, Minong Mine, Edisen Fishery and Rock Harbor Lighthouse. Check tour availability/timing against your scheduled visitation dates. Charters on the M.V. Sandy can be arranged for groups including customized tour agendas. The 42-passenger M.V. Sandy will deliver your family or group-charter to an interesting lighthouse museum filled with lighthouse and shipwreck artifacts interpreting the island's long term maritime history. Or, enjoy stops of natural interest where NPS interpreters lead hikes.
