Overview Black Canyon River Adventures is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The Black Canyon of the Colorado River is below the Hoover Dam and north of Lake Mohave. Your journey begins by traveling down Lower Portal Road—the actual road that construction workers used when building the Hoover Dam. Near the beginning of your scenic float you will enjoy a bird's-eye view of the new Colorado River Bridge, opened in October 2010, from the water so have cameras ready. The Bridge is 900 feet above the Colorado River and spans the Black Canyon while connecting Arizona and Nevada. Your raft passes under it.
