Black Canyon River Adventures

Black Canyon River Adventures is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The Black Canyon of the Colorado River is below the Hoover Dam and north of Lake Mohave. Your journey begins by traveling down Lower Portal Road—the actual road that construction workers used when building the Hoover Dam. Near the beginning of your scenic float you will enjoy a bird's-eye view of the new Colorado River Bridge, opened in October 2010, from the water so have cameras ready. The Bridge is 900 feet above the Colorado River and spans the Black Canyon while connecting Arizona and Nevada. Your raft passes under it.

You will spend three hours exploring twelve miles of hidden river as it winds past canyon walls that, in some places, rise 2,000 feet above the river's edge. Experience the waterfalls, hot springs and other geological wonders. You are likely to spot Desert Big Horn sheep, Osprey, Great Blue Heron and much more. The trip is fully narrated by experienced, knowledgeable guides who offer in-depth facts and insights of the history of the dam and the area. Lunch is included (in a souvenir insulated bag) and the group stops along the way to eat at a beach. This provides the opportunity to swim or play in the cool clear water of the Colorado River, so wear swim suits and bring along a camera.

Your tour ends at Willow Beach Marina, Arizona; on your return trip you will pass over Hoover Dam. Sorry, no pets are allowed on raft trips unless they are service animals.
