Mammoth Cave National Park
Mammoth Cave Hotel offers the only in-park lodging in Mammoth Cave National Park. Four different room types--including rooms with trail views, rooms near the entrance to Mammoth Cave, historic cabins and forest cottages--are offered, some only seasonally and weekend-only availability during winter months. (The Hotel and Sunset Terrace Rooms are open full time from March 8 to November 1, 2013.) On-site dining is provided in three different outlets: the Travertine Restaurant, the Crystal Lake Coffee Shop and fast food at TrogloBITES. Guests enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring local favorites, home cooking, signature grits and ice cream. Visitors are invited to tour the historic on-site photography exhibit in the Travertine Dining Room. Mammoth Cave Hotel: Centuries of Hospitality chronicles the role of the hotel since 1816 in the development of cave exploration and regional visitation by boat, train, and auto.
ATTN: Cyclists, Horseback Riders, Hikers: Check out the Mammoth Cave Railroad Hike and Bike Trail article featured in the August 2012 edition of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy eNews. (www.railstotrails.org) Bring your own mountain bike (the trail is gravel so mountain bikes are recommended) or rent one at the Mammoth Cave Camp Store for $20 per day. This trail puts you directly in contact with the fascinating history of Mammoth Cave and Mammoth Cave Hotel--one of the oldest tourist attractions in the United States!
On site shopping includes an award-winning gift shop (Kentucky Home) featuring local crafts, art, jewelry, gourmet foods and home furnishings. Kid-friendly Cave Country Store has a unique array of Cave memorabilia and souvenirs, books, postcards and maps.
Mammoth Cave Hotel invites motorcoach and groups including eco-tours and family reunions. A versatile on-site meeting room is available for parties, meetings and conferences in a relaxed atmosphere. Customized menu/catering options are provided for special events including weddings, receptions, holiday and birthday parties, graduations, etc.
Hotel rooms and Sunset Terrace rooms are open only on the weekends during winter months. Cottages and cabins are open mid-March to October only. A U.S. Post Office is also available. Restaurant hours vary daily and by season with breakfast and lunch served daily and dinners served Fridays and Saturdays Guests purchase CAVE TOUR TICKETS DIRECTLY from the Park Service, either on line or during their visit. Popular tours sell out quickly so reservations in advance are advised. Schedules VARY by SEASON so check the NPS website against your visit dates to verify tours/timing available during your stay.
